This is going to be quick as I have to go back to work in less than an hour, but here are a few things that I'm currently loving!
1. Blue Paper Lanterns: A Personal Style Blog
I've stumbled upon a lot of great blogs lately, but this has to be one of my favourites! I've been reading back through all of Kimmie's archives, simply because I love her girl-next-door style and her lovely posts. Plus she has the cutest little boy ever! I only hope that I can look half as chic as she does when I'm a mother!
2. My new purchases! I scored a ton of great deals this past weekend and picked up a few things that I had been looking for (hot pink shorts!) as well as a few other things just because they were cheap (oops). Would you rather see my haul in photo or video format?
3. Water nail art, which I have renamed "Messy Fail Art". I love the way that it looks, but I hate the process! I seriously spent about an hour at it last night and only managed to get two fingernails to turn out right. I'm not willing to give up yet though!
4. The fact that I don't have to work until 4:30PM tomorrow! Hello, sleep in day in the middle of the week! And while on the topic, I also love my bed. As soon as my room is finished, I will post photos.
5. Glee: The 3D Concert Movie trailer. I first seen this trailer before the Harry Potter movie started playing (which I also loved) and I can't lie, I totally got goosebumps. Even though I'm not a die-hard Glee fan, I do enjoy the show, and I definitely want to see this movie!
I have to get ready for our work BBQ now but please leave a comment regarding video vs. photo. I also have a Luxe Box waiting in my mailbox to review soon if you guys are interested. Let me know - I'd love to hear your thoughts! :-)
No, I haven't gotten the days of the weeks mixed up! More like I just cannot manage time well. I meant to post this yesterday but ran out of time. That's what happens after you work a night shift and then spend most of your day sleeping.
1. Fossil "Stella" watch; $135. I don't wear a watch on a regular basis, but this delicious-looking chocolate brown watch has me aching to make it a regular part of my wardrobe.
2. Clarity "Cushion" ring by The Clarity Project; $3,500+. While I don't necessarily want to be engaged right now, I hope that when my boyfriend does finally propose, he does it with this ring. I've been a longtime fan of the Tiffany Novo ring, but could not justify wishing for an $18,000+ ring. Then I stumbled upon this ring, thanks to The Glitter Guide. The same design (eternity band, cushion cut diamond) but for a much cheaper price (.5 carat is $3,500, though I am hoping for 1 carat) and not only that, but the proceeds help mining communities! It sounds like a win-win situation to me! I get a gorgeous ring and I help others in the process - how could you deny me that opportunity? ;-)
3. Apple Macbook Pro; $1,249+. My beloved Macbook is turning four years old this summer and she's finally starting to act her age. While she still does her job, she has gotten quite slow in her old age. Not only that, but her parts are starting to give out. I just had to replace the charger last weekend, much to the dismay of my bank account. I'm hoping that once I graduate next year, I can reward myself with a sleek, shiny new Macbook Pro. Hopefully this laptop will last until then!
4. Anthropologie "Primped and Pebbled" boots; price varies. I fell in love with these boots after seeing them on a fellow blogger. Sadly, these boots are no longer available through Anthropologie. I did, however, find a pair on eBay in my size and promptly sent the link to my boyfriend, titled "Christmas List 2011 (Yes, I'm starting in June)".
Do you see anything here that you like? What are you currently lusting after?
P.S. I updated my list of daily reads on the right side of the blog, so you should check them out! :-)
P.S.S. Just realized that I have two #3 items in the photo, oops! Note to self: Don't create graphics when you are sleep-deprived.
In honor of the launch of the soon-to-be-famous Glitter Guide, I thought I'd showcase some of my favourite items that glitter, sparkle, shine, and shimmer! Enjoy! :-)
OPI's "Show It and Glow It!" and "Sparkle-icious", two of my favourite glitter polishes. These are a fun way to brighten up any outfit!
I didn't realize how sloppy this picture looked until I uploaded it to the computer, at which point I did not want to re-take it. On the left is my high school graduation dress, which is perfectly sparkly in a subtle way, and my not-so-subtle sequin skirt from Gap.
I got these Gap flats for Christmas but I only wore them for the first time this week. Let me tell you, they are not very comfortable at all! Do you guys have any tips for making flats more comfortable? I wore these for about 30 minutes and my heels were rubbed sore. :-(
Don't even get me started on how much I love these shoes from Aldo! They are comfortable, they fit like a charm, and they are perfectly glittery. I plan to wear these to my university graduation next year!
Necklaces that I picked up super cheap at Reitmans. They were originally $18+ each and I paid about $8 each for them. I love scoring a good deal, especially on jewelry as it's not something that I wear often.
J. Crew sure knows how to do sequins, as evidenced by these two shirts. The shirt on the left is actually black, and my friends called me a diva when I wore it to class one day. Whatever, I rock my sequins by night and day.
Sequin striped shirts from Joe Fresh (left) and J. Crew (right). Exact same shirt, but the pink one only set me back $24, while the J. Crew version was a pricey $72 (mind you, I didn't pay that much for it!).

Shirt: J. Crew | Cardigan: Gap | Jeans: American Eagle | Shoes: Spring | Bracelet: Gift from Cuba
Apparently I have a problem with choosing the right pair of shoes for the occasion. In my last outfit post, I wore a pair of riding-style boots to the beach. On a very warm day. Clearly, not the best idea. So when I got dressed today, I decided not to wear boots (as it is no longer winter) and to wear my new clog-type heels. To walk through the woods. In the middle of a wet, rainy spring. Yeah, that definitely was not a good idea either. I nearly twisted my ankle hopping over puddles and I had mud all over my jeans.
I bought a wireless camera for my DSLR in hopes of making outfit photos a more pleasurable experience. Having to set the self timer, run to the designated location, then go back to the camera and check the photo (possibly having to reset it and do it all again) results in a lot of beheaded photos of myself. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the camera before I got a chance to use it! Darn those small electronics with legs! My mom is currently on a painting frenzy in our house and I'm hoping it was just misplaced in the process of rearranging furniture.
I apologize for not posting a real update in what feels like forever! These days, my outfits usually consist of a pair of scrubs, a hoodie, and athletic sneakers. And on my days off, I spend the majority of my time in pajamas, trying to recover from working three 12-hour shifts. I didn't even get dressed until close to suppertime today, so it's a wonder that I even have outfit photos to post.
My clinical rotation is on the obstetrics unit, but because it's such a small hospital, we also get labour & delivery, pediatrics, gynecology and some medicine patients on the floor as well. I absolutely love it there! Even though the past two weeks have been really slow, I have learned a lot thus far. I've successfully completed a number of IVs, watched three deliveries, performed a number of assessments, monitored fetal heart rates, swaddled newborns, and more. I wish I could go into more details about my experience but I don't want to accidentally give out too much information and run the risk of legal troubles, given that it is such a small hospital in an area where everyone knows everyone else. All I will say is that I absolutely love it here and I'm hoping to be able to get a job on this unit when I graduate next year!
